Indo-Mediterranean Empires

1. Create a set of CHESS notes to compare three empires of the Indo-Mediterranean region.  You must include the Athenian and Persian empires and one more of your choice.

2. Create a parallel  timeline of four empires.  You must include the Mauryan, Athenian, Persian and one of your choice.

3. Create a map of one of the empires.

Americas: Unit Test Preparation

Prepare for a unit test on civilizations of the early Americas!
1. Locate all features and civilizations from our class maps.

2. Define and describe achievements, political qualities, religion, and cultural qualities of each large-scale civilization we have studied: Olmec, Maya, Mississippian (Cahokia), Anasazi.  Be able to identify the major achievements of the Inca and Aztec.

3. Compose an essay in response to the question: "What was the most remarkable Mayan achievement?"

Suggested format
Paragraph 1
-- Define "remarkable".
-- Identify 4 or more Mayan achievements.
-- Identify which achievement is most remarkable.
-- Identify three or more reasons for this achievement being remarkable.

Paragraph 2:
Describe in detail the most remarkable achievement AND how it relates to the other three achievements.  Use evidence from the materials provided.

Paragraph 3:
Elaborate on the most important achievement.  Why is it indeed remarkable.  Add additional details.
