Rise of Rome Essay
Compose an article for the esteemed Windsor Historical Journal to describe the the qualities of the Rome in the period from the early Republic to the Roman Empire.
*Introduce the topic by
a. stating the importance of Rome in world history. (Refer to class notes & text notes.)
b. identifying three qualities that will be the focus of the essay (CHESS or Qualities of Empire)
c. including a thesis statement in response to the prompt. (HInt: turn the prompt into a
question and answer the question including three or more qualities or achievements that define Rome from Republic to Empire (500’s BC to 400’s AD).
Organize the remainder of your essay into two or more additional paragraphs.
Remember these requirements for excellence in writing:
- Use at least six sources. When you use information from a source, even if it is paraphrased cite the source parenthetically by source letter or abbreviated title.

- Paragaphs should include a topic sentence and be focused on a single topic. The topic sentence need not be the first sentence, but it must be readily identifiable by the reader and should support the essay thesis.
